Ste Alder on the road to being a Pro

Ste Alder

One of Powerbeck's best competitive bodybuilders with a huge amount of wins under his belt including this years Class 3 NABBA Britain. Ste has stepped up to the next level putting his continued success as a bodybuilder and a competitor down to his training and positive mental attitude, which will go a long way to helping him achieve is ultimate ambition to stand on the universe stage and take the winning position. This is great news for Powerbeck Gym members as Ste is a Personal trainer who works with Powerbeck Gym members passing on his knowledge and experience.

Ste has been training since he was 18 making the transformation from Rugby Player to Bodybuilder when he turned to weight training and sports nutrition to improve his performance, he soon noticed that his positive attitude and self discipline helped him grow big quick. His dedication to nutrition was a key point in this quick muscle growth and he was soon in the routine of not missing a single meal or supplement.

'I noticed that if i followed a diet and supplement plan to the letter including times and methods I would get the results I wanted'

Ste put his usual commitment into training but noticed massive improvements in his muscle mass and strength Ste put this down to the benefits of sports nutrition and diet remembering the superb advice and support he had received which he now passes on to Powerbeck gym members. As Ste's noticed the improvements in his physique he was attracted into the bodybuilding life style and after watching his brother get 3rd in a local bodybuilding competition he was soon hooked and hungry for more knowledge to gaining good quality muscle tissue and strength.

Value for Money Supplemts

'I started as every young lad starts looking in the bodybuilding mags and beliving the hype the american companies give you, that thier products were the best and you could build muscle fast just like the guy who was in the advert - well several hundreds of pounds later I soon clicked on to the fact that protein is protein and the more you see the company advertised and sponsored in other sports like bill board at football matches the more the product costs to the end user'

Ste turned a corner when training in his local gym he met Paul Crook the owner of Powerbeck sports and they started to train together. Ste had started his own business up personal training and he needed to gain more knowledge on sports nutrition so although the training sessions were high intensity the conversation was always based around what supplements did and how to get the best out of them. Ste knew Paul had helped Andy Bell win the British finals and as his interest of competitive bodybuilding grew so did his thirst of knowledge and his will to become the best and show his own customers what can be acheived with hard training and a posotive mental attitude.

'The first time I decided to compete was the first time I had to amend my diet to get into competition shape. The eating meals at set times was nothing new to me but the change in food was something else. As the weeks went on the results sterted to show through and although it was a tough time everything I had put my body through started to show and the show was soon upon me. With the help and pre-contest advice from Powerbeck I got 1st place in NABBA first timers and went on the following week to win the novice Britain'

That year Ste went on to win Mr Wigan both novice and overall and his feet were firmly planted in the shoes of a bodybuilder. With experiance comes knowledge and improvement so when Powerbeck opened it's first gym that year it was a new beginning of muscle building for Ste and a new home for his personal training.

'Bodybuilding has been a major part in my life and has allowed me to grow within my personality and make me stronger in mind ,body and spirit. In everyday life I have become more confidient and lead a very positive role in my training and diet. Although i some times suffer from the hands of people stero typing me as a ' bodybuilder' after they take time to get to know me they soon learn I am a nice guy and they then flood me with questions about diet and how they would like their bodies to look'.

The main things Ste says has attributed to his enormous physic is nutrition and diet - getting the right supplements into your body at the right time and making sure you train at 110% all the time and give your body enough time to rest and recover and most of all grow. The development of his own body has not only lead to winning shows but to getting the body he has always wanted and a good solid base on which he can grow. Going to the extremes in bodybuilding and diet can see Ste down to as little as 3% body fat and on the other end of the scale walking around off season at a massive 18 stone.

'Having a good gym to train in is essential to growth as it's where it all happens. Powerbeck gym is the best in the northwest for machines, free weights and most of all help and advice. From beginner to pro bodybuilder all the gym get's behind you for support whilst you are getting ready to all shouting in the audience when your on stage. It's like a big family at Powerbeck and everyone is made to feel welcome. The atmosphere in the gym is a buzz and it's a place to meet new friends and most of all fit in. Let's be honest the way of the bodybuilder isn't normal conversation for the guy on the street but if it's your dream and you feel at home Powerbeck Gym is the best place for you to train, get big and grow. Powerbeck is more than a gym as you have the advantage of getting great supplements at great prices. There is a full nutrition shop on the side of the gym and all members get trade discount. Believe me this can save you a fortune in the long run, and you get the opportunity to try cutting edge new supplements without having to buy a full tub, as the owners are just as passionate about bodybuilding as I am. The gym has all walks of life with one thing in common and that's living the dream and getting the body and shape they desire.'

'Protein is the key to muscle building and the one thing you need to make sure you body has in it at all times. If you have just trained you have a 20 min window of muscle building ability to feed your muscle with the protein it needs to grow and repair. Like a new born baby you need to encourage your body to grow by feeding it every 2 hours and never miss a meal. When I explain to people about my diet it's not just based on 3 low fat meals a day, it can consist of up to 12 meals and be over 6000 cals. I don't eat junk it's just good quality whole foods and topped up with powerbeck Whey protein, amino activator, creatine, glutamine and Powerbeck anabolic protein brek. Every year I grow bigger and bigger and gain good quality muscle tissue and i put this down to 3 simple things - EAT - SLEEP - TRAIN and that's the formula I use to keep winning shows and putting on the beef. As for training I use many different training methods depending on the time of year and if I am getting ready for a show or simply packing on the muscle.
