In the BeginningIn 2005 at the age of 41 I had become fed up with how I looked and felt when I noticed that Powerbeck Sports were opening their first gym in my home town of Leigh. I didn't know it at the time but this perfect combination of specialist supplements outlet expanding into the Health and fitness gym sector would be just what I needed, not just training facilities but specialist advice on nutrition and diet also. I had heard of Powerbeck Supplements and knew of their growing reputation in the world of nutrition and suspected the gym would be hardcore and just what I needed to start getting into shape. I went over to Wigan road and even before the gym had opened I had signed up and could not wait to get started. I had a chat to Paul Crook the owner about my diet and training and his positive attitude and passion for diet and nutrition made me confident that I could get the body and success I needed so with his help the journey began.... Success and AchievementsSix years on and I'm still there but what a difference, I feel great my body's in the best condition ever and I am full of confidence in life in general which as lead me to opening my very own business. The past six years I have worked extremely hard but with the support and advice from Powerbeck I have been super efficient ensuring that I gained the maximum I could for my efforts with no time wasted on FAD diets or inefficient training programs. Training has become a massive part of my life and to be honest it has opened my eyes not to just how the body works but to life in general. Maximising my PotentialThe guys in the over 40's and over 50's are getting bigger and better every year and with many of these athletes taking the natural progression from competing at open age groups to the veteran competition they obviously had more training time and experience behind them than me. This gap was closed quickly and I am in no doubt that this was due to the tremendous support and advice from Powerbeck Sports. Of course Paul and Ian (Powerbeck Owners) will tell you its down to my hard work and determination but I dont thin I could have done it without them. I feel that I have managed to tick off a life time dream - some times dreams do come true and with hard work, help and dedication it just goes to show that just because you reach a certain age it dose not mean you still can't have the body you want. YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD!!!!
You don't have to go to the extremes as I do but with a good balance of exercise, good diet and most important plenty of sleep and rest, you can still make massive changes. My diet is made up from foods succh as porridge, rice, pasta, jacket potatoes for energy, chicken, turkey and lean red meat for my protein to build muscle and peanut butter, almonds, omega 3's for my healthy fats. my basic advice is to eat a little often to keep your metabolism going, do a form of exercise that is enjoyable, rest to let your body recover and drink plenty of water. Supplement this with products depending on age, body type and your personal goals and you're on your way to getting the results you want. Personal favourites of mine are:-
Back to Powerbeck and the success I have had with the gym and the supplements and after seeing how well Paul and Ian are doing I decided to make the move and open a Powerbeck franchise's in Bury.
